THE CHANGING FACE OF SURVEY INSTRUMENTS

please note: not all data have been recorded, so some of the years are only estimated.
This list is definitively not complete, but I will do my best to hold it updated.

Wild T0

The Wild T0 Compass Theodolite  is a compact lightweight instrument, which can be used either for observing and setting-out magnetic bearings or as a normal theodolite for measuring or turning-off angles. It is particularly useful for rapid traversing, based on magnetic bearings, especially in areas where visibility is limited and the traverse legs likely to be short. The T0 can also be used for photogrammetric ground control surveys, low-order detailing, on building sites or as a recon- naissance instrument. The compass theodolite has a spring lever which to be moved to lower the compass circle onto its pivot. As this lever returns to its original position when released, thus raising the circle, the pivot can be damaged only as a result of particularly careless mishandling. Horizontal (i.e. Compass) Circle readings are of unusually high .accuracy for an instrument of this type and size, because of the coincidence setting of the diametrically-opposite parts of the circle. Horizontal and vertical circle readings are made to the nearest minute. The telescope has a magnification of 20x.

Accessories which can be attached to the T0 include a telescope level, the Wild Objective Pentaprism, the Wild - Roelofs Solar Prism and an eyepiece sunglass for sighting bright objects.

Wild T05

Wild T05 - the Compact-Theodolite for many purpose

  • on the building site
  • on the construction site
  • in civil engineering
  • in hydraulic engineering
  • in agriculture and forestry
  • for drainage work
  • in archeology
  • on research trips

Wild T06

The model T06 is a compact theodolite which is suitable for all simple surveying tasks in construction , e.g .:

  • getaways
  • Measure and mark out any horizontal angle
  • Vertical angle measurement for inclination determination or calculation of the height difference
  • stakeout excavation
  • Topographical surveys
  • variouse measurement possibilities in Utilities Survey

Wild T1 - NT1 - T1A - T1 (70)

The WILD doubleCentre Theodolite T1:

  • for Tacheometry, Traversing and Minor Triangulation.
  • Double Centre Theodolite with two independent cylindrical vertical axes.
  • Microscope-Eyepiece for reading both circles immediately alongside the telescope.
  • Simplest conceivable arrangement for reading the circles by optical micrometer.
  • Bright circle-images one directly above the other, the lower one giving the horizontal, the upper one the vertical circle.
  • Only a single illuminating-mirror for both circles and micrometer.
  • Telescope reversible both ways.
  • Optical plumbing-device built into vertical axis of the instrument, and thus capable of being checked by reversal.

Wild T16 - T16 (70)

Wild T16 (70)  1973 - 1975

The Wild TI6 scale-reading theodolite is the perfect instrumen1 for outstanding reliability even under extreme conditions, Well ower 100'000 instruments worldwide are the proof. Its large scales show horizontal and vertical circle readings at a glance. The Wild T16 ensures accurate and economical surveys.

Its automalic index uses the practice tested pendulum compensator. Together with the circle clamp for setting zero, repetition, and orientation of the horizontal circle, it simplifies the surveyor's task and ensures greater accuracy.

lts main technical features are the following:

  • Diameter of objective                                40 mm (1.58')
  • Magnifying power                                      28x
  • Shortest focusing distance                         1,40 m (41/2')
  • Horizontal circle                                         79mm (3,1')
  • divided into single degrees, all of which are numbered
  • Vertical circle: same arrangement
Circle reading with scale microscope          60'  /  100c
  • Estimation to                                               1/10th of a minute
  • Circle clamp fastening horizontal circle to alidade
  • 1 circular level
  • 1 plate leve - centrally arranged between the standards
    sensitivity                                                    30" per 2 mm
  • 1 vertical circle level for coincidence setting,
    sensitivity                                                    30" per 2 mm
  • Built-in optical plumb in alidade, giving upright image.
Detachable tribrach for forced centring, with new clamping device. Packing in metal container where the instrument is fixed near its center of gravity.
  • Tripod:  XVI a with rigid legs, XVI b with sliding legs
  • Weights:
    Instrument                                                                  10 lbs.
Container, comprising ground plate and meta! hood   4 lbs.
Tripod XVI a with rigid legs                                         12 1/4 lbs.
Tripod XVI b with sliding legs                                      12 1/2lbs.

Wild T2

Universal Theodolite Wild T2 model 56

Single second theodolite for triangulation, traversing, optical distance measurements, control and staking out surveys and astronomical observations.
The Wild T2 Universal Theodolite is. w1thout doubt.
the most popular second reading theodolite in the world. This reputation 1s well-deserved and results from a combination of simplicity in design, precision in construction and ease in handling.
A careful selection of metals, mostly steel, has made the T2 exceptionally stable, enabling it to be used throughout a wide range of temperature and climatic conditions.

Wild T2 (mod) Universal Theodolite

Wild T2 Universal Theodolite, the best-known single second instrument in the world. Features that have made it famous include: the sound design, proved over and over again; the use of steel for strength, stability and accuracy; the symmetrical optical paths of the reading system which bring the diametrically opposite graduation lines together as images of identical quality and brightness. In the latest model, the reading is digital apart from the single seconds taken from the micrometer scale. After coinciding the graduation lines by turning the micrometer knob, the mean value of two diametrically opposite circle positions is read quickly and easily. The selector knob brings the required circle image into the reading microscope. The horizontal circle appears yellow; the vertical, white. The automatic index with ± 0.3" setting accuracy makes vertical angle measurements fast and accurate. Pendulum suspension is robust and strong, damping is excellent, and there's the Wild press button control. The erect-image telescope has excellent light gathering properties and permits exact pointing even in poor light. Magnification is 30x with the standard eyepiece, but 40 x and 1 8 x can be obtained with the optional interchangeable eyepieces. There are two optical sights and a removable carrying handle. The detachable tribrach with built-in optical plummet takes targets, Distomat reflectors, subtense bar, etc. And there's a wide range of accessories. The T2 also combines with the DI3S Distomat, the GAK 1 North-Seeking Gyroscope and the GLO Laser Eyepiece.
Wild T2 for every survey task: triangulation, traversing, field astronomy, engineering, setting out, cadastral survey, mining, tunnelling, optical tooling, deformation measurements, tacheometry.
